About us Managing Director Ruari McLachlan comes from a maritime training background and has spent many years involved with Rescue, Survey and Windfarm support vessels. Ruari is commercially certified to drive vessels up to 24mtrs, he served his time in Electronics then later went into business management before buying Castle Charter & Marine Services in 2011 which has grown into McLachlan Marine. Ruari was also a DLA deputy operations manager for the RNLI Stonehaven Lifeboat.
Safety All our coxswain's & crews have industry experience and trained to MCA/ RYA standards. When stepping aboard you will be given a short safety brief on the equipment we carry and safety procedures. Certification is available for inspection. Our safety management system is approved and registered to ISO9001 & ISO14001.

Meet Core the Team
Ruari McLachlan (Director & Coxswain All Vessels) Started his career within the electronics sector and has been involved with boats from a very young age. In his teenage years Ruari volunteered on lifeboats and club rescue boats. He progressed his skills and went on to become an instructor in powerboat, fast rescue craft coxswain and RYA commercially endorsed. With experience on offshore windfarms CTVs, Survey boats, FRC's & Lifeboats plus his time on the management team at Stonehaven RNLI Lifeboat Ruari brings a diverse skillset to head the company.
Josh Sansom With a background in ships agency and marine operations Josh brings a wealth of experience to the team and over see's the larger projects and HSE for the company
Paul Haynes (Coxswain All Vessels) A former Royal Marine Commando and maritime special operations veteran, Paul has a broad background in fast boat operations, diving and maritime safety. This experience includes deep shipwreck exploration, mixed gas rebreather technical diving Instructor Trainer, Royal Yachting Association (RYA) advanced powerboat Instructor, RYA navigation Instructor and a former Stonehaven RNLI Inshore lifeboat coxswain. www.haynesmarine.co.uk
Michael Smith (Coxwain) Despite his young appearance Michael has several years nautical experience within the sea cadets as an adult volunteer petty officer and Michael is also active crew with Stonehaven Lifeboat.
Ralph Barnett (Coxswain - True North) After 30 years in print journalism Ralph traded his life of pen and paper to embark on a second career on the open sea, Ralph with 8 years + experience with Arbroath RNLI Lifeboat has a great all round understanding of safety at sea. Ralph is currently working towards his coxswain ticket within McLachlan Marine.
John Thomson (Crewman) 35yrs+ at Sea on deep sea fishing vessels, John supports our younger crew with a wealth of experience.
Jock Anderson (Coxswain/Crewman) With a lifetime spent on fishing vessels in the deep waters of the North Sea and North Atlantic, Jock takes everything the weather throws at him in his stride and is held in great respect by his crew mates.
Brian (Wilkie) His young looks itsnt the only thing going for him, Brian has supported the company since the start, with a background in oil & gas HSE and maritime training his talents never fail to amuse, now retired he still makes an appearance on big jobs.
